Great Waikoloa Community Ride

When: Saturday, November 13th

Where: Bike Works Beach & Sport

What: Bike Works Beach & Sports will present The Great Waikoloa Community Ride on Saturday November 13, 2010 to create awareness for PATH Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawaii, a nonprofit advocacy group dedicated to creating pathways and bikeways on Hawaii Island.  Registration for the Bicycle Road Rides are FREE starting at 6:30am at Bike Works Beach & Sports at the Queens Marketplace Waikoloa Beach Resort.  Coffee and Refreshments will be provided.

Four bicycle road rides are scheduled beginning at 7am for Kohala Mountain Ride, 8am for Hawi Ride, 9am for Kua Bay Ride and 11am for Resort Ride.  Picnic lunch provided for ride participants at 12noon at Anaehoomalu Bay compliments of Bike Works Beach & Sports and Hawaii Cycling Club.  Riders of all abilities are welcome to join in.

Free Basic Bike Maintenance Class

Where:  Bike Works Beach & Sport

When: Wednesday Nov. 10th 7:00-8:00 pm

What: This is a basic and is an introduction to basic bike maintenance.
No special knowledge is required and there will be no repairs done to the attendees’ bikes during the class (but feel free to bring em and we’ll check them in for service!).

The class will be presented in a ‘ride’ format:

Pre-Ride:
Safety check, tire pressure check

Ride:
roadside flat repair, hardware tightening

Post-Ride:
Bike Cleaning, Chain lubrication

Free gift for all participants and a door prize for one lucky winner.

American Cancer Society Relay For Life


We had a great time with Bike Works at the American Cancer Society Relay for Life on Saturday Oct 10, 2010 – our 15th year sponsoring the event. The Coffee Talk Riders came out with good support.

Saturday Coffee Talk Riders in Kona

When: Saturdays @7:00 AM

Where: Meet at the Kona Pool Parking lot near in the old airport park.

Who: Riders with varied abilities. This is a fun, casual ride that turns at either the Veteran’s Cemetery or the Scenic Point Lookout and anyone is invited to join in. Their motto? “It’s All About the Talk”.

Saturday Morning Ride from Kona

When: Saturdays @ 7:00 AM

Where: Old Airport playground parking area (Kailua Park).
Who: We’ll leave as a group and head north up Queen Ka’ahumanu Hwy. Ride at your own pace and feel free to ask one of our knowledgeable riders for tips on improving your cycling skills. Faster riders can enjoy a good paceline workout with members of the Hammerhead Race Team. There is always a group going your pace so don’t worry if your not a racer. Remember, the journey is the fun!

Tuesday Beach & Sports Beginner Road Ride in Waikoloa

When: Tuesdays @8:00 AM

Where: Bike Works Beach & Sports in the Queens’ Marketplace
Who: Easy and Fun beginners road ride from the shop. Helmets required.

Wednesday Bike Works Intermediate Road Ride In Kona

When: Wednesday AUg 25th @ 7:00 AM

Where: Bike Works Kona

Who: Intermediate Riders

Join the motley crew of the Bike Works Kona store for and hour and a half road ride to start the day. Rides typically start by climbing up to the upper road in Kona Town and then looping back to the shop. Typical routes are shown Here and Here.

Thursday Advanced Road Ride

When: Thursdays @ 7:00 AM
Who: Intermediate to advanced riders.

What: Meet at the Club parking lot on Palani St. Ride goes south from there. Be prepared for a 3 hour strenuous ride. Click this link to view the route.

Sunday Morning Mtn Bike Ride

When: Most Sundays @ 8:00 AM
Where: Koloko Mountain Bike Trail in the Honua’Ula Forest Reserve.
